Herpes

Herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) and is spread by by direct contact with saliva, ulcers, and genital secretions infected with HSV. Some people have no symptoms, but others may present with painful genital ulcers. Other associated symptoms include flu-like illness, tender and swollen lymph nodes, local pain and itching, painful urination, and headaches. The primary outbreak is usually the most painful and recurrent outbreaks are of shorter duration and decreased severity. Over time, the recurrent outbreaks lessen in amount and intensity.
