Oligohydramnios

Oligohydramnios is amniotic fluid volume less than would be expected for the gestational age. This condition is characterized by too little amniotic fluid surrounding your baby. The two most common reasons for low fluid are problems with the baby's growth and your water breaking before you go into labor (premature rupture of membranes). There are numerous causes of oligohydramnios including but not limited to: multiple gestation, postdates, chromosomal abnormalities, congenital anomalies, rupture of membranes, abruption, medications reducing fetal urine production, and uteroplacental insufficiency.
