Menorrhagia

Menorrhagia is defined as heavy menstrual bleeding and may include heavy or prolonged bleeding. There are many causes of heavy menstrual bleeding including hormonal problems, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, polyps, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic or Abnormal Pregnancy, bleeding disorders, and endometrial cancer. Other conditions such as thyroid, kidney or liver disease can also cause heavy bleeding. Medications such as hormonal birth control, blood thinners, IUDs can cause irregular bleeding as well.
